United States of America is Not a Real Superpower

You always think that the United States of America is the only real superpower in the current world and will remain as a superpower in the future. Well…soon you may have to rethink about it. The ‘Real Superpower’ title is going to become the mother of all lies and a systematic conspiracy theory that the world have had ever known so far. The United States, like great ancient Roman Empire, is beginning to be plagued by the limits of its own strength and power. Doesn’t accept it? Read the following facts and think again:

From the beginning of this 21st century, the United States is facing several challenges and competition from beyond its borders as well as internal difficulties. The American upper middle class and middle class, which is enjoying the industrial success of the US with designer homes, luxury cars, long vacations, and even private boats - has seen their income declining for the last 15 years. The American working class and lower income class families are slowly turning out to be the biggest losers of current globalisation. It is because of rising world economies such as China, India, Russia and Brazil, who can now very well collectively collaborate, compete and deliver low cost-high quality products and services around the clock to any part of the world.

The current globalisation is heavily striking on the United States economy. In fact, the United States is the very first country to actively promote the worldwide exchange of goods and services like no other country in the world, and the result is that many local manufacturing industries are closing the doors one by one and declaring bankrupt. Manufacturing industries such as home furnishings, consumer electronics, textile, automobile parts suppliers and computer manufacturers have had already closed the doors for good. In the recent past, the free trade has primarily benefited rival countries that are now mounting a heavy economic offence on the US. Knowingly, the US let the rival countries to cut off a large slice of America's global market share in the last 25 years before and after the ‘globalisation’ phenomenon emerged into the scene.

Almost no one is saving any money in the United States today. Many don’t have any money to save or simply don’t want to save. Saving rates are very low or negative in many US states. The US government debt grows by about $1.5 billion per day and has now crossed more than $9.0 trillion dollars. The US private household debt has now crossed more than $11.5 trillion and half of these debts have been incurred after 1998. The fact is that the expanding consumer debt drives the US economy. The Americans are enjoying the present spending spree at the cost of their own future and future generations. In the near future, many Americans might have to face harsh reality like a poverty-stricken, third world family, living from hand to mouth situation without any kind of financial reserves whatsoever. The imminent economic crisis is waiting to happen in the US and will be most thoroughly predicted one in recent human history.

The financial position of the United States has declined dramatically in the last 15 years. The United States federal budget is in the deep red, adding to America's dependency on borrowing money from overseas lenders and instantly creating huge debts to pay back. So far overseas borrowings have provided essential support to the value of the US dollar but the dollar is declining and so is that support by lenders. As the largest debtor nation, the US will have to be more conciliatory to its lenders; China is one of the biggest among them. The overseas lenders will be forced to switch from the dollar to a new currency reserve for international trade. At that time, the US economy and it’s credit standing will plunge all together.

The United State’s biggest overseas lenders are China and Japan; both these countries could easily cause very serious financial problems, if they wish to do so at any time in the near future. Nearly 27% of the government bonds issued by the US treasury are bought by China and Japan, another 14% by the Middle East countries. That’s why the US doesn’t complain much about lawless dictatorships and states with very worst human rights record. A country whose financial affairs are in the hands of foreigners is not a superpower.

The ‘very unnecessary’ war in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as buying large amounts of arms and military supplies (Is Halliburton indirectly owned by Vice-President Cheney?), maintaining overseas military bases in as many as 65 countries is totally wiping out billions of dollars from the US treasury every year. The priority of United States military expenditures has now created a growing deficit that is slowly causing some serious and long lasting problems to the United States public welfare benefit and education system. A government functioning so irresponsible with no sense of the prosperity of its own country and people is not really a superpower in any sense.

Now, the US is heavily dependent on overseas imports of manufactured goods and crude oil from the Middle East. In 2006, the US dependency on overseas imports of manufactured goods was thrice as large as the US dependency on imported crude oil. No economy can survive by importing nearly 80% of manufactured goods. In fact, no country in the history had ever survived in excessive imports and nearly closing down manufacturing. For example, every country in the world now exports goods to the United States without purchasing an equivalent amount of US goods in return. The United States can't even achieve a trade balance with less developed economies like those of Romania and Ghana. Everyday, container ships arrive at US ports from various parts of the world to deliver goods and many return home totally empty. A country that imports even matchsticks from overseas can’t be a superpower.

For more than half a century, the United States has maintained its economic lead by being faster than any other country at inventing new products and technologies for the global market. Today, however, its dominance is on the slide, as Asian countries such China, India and Japan pour huge resources into their R&D and challenge America's traditional role as ‘technology leader’ in the current global economy. After the near erosion of many manufacturing industries, the United States is now rapidly increasing its dependency on imports of advanced technology products as well.

Half the world is really very impressed by the low level of unemployment in the United States. Only the other half clearly knows very well that these statistics may be the result of a voluntary telephone survey. Is working just ten hours per week enough for one to be classified as "employed"? The US statistics is usually intended to create more positive ‘rosy’ image and opinion than about its actual condition. The net reality is that the US job growth rate is falling behind its own population growth. Also, there are many ‘Underemployed’ Americans, who can’t get a suitable job for their skills. A country that cannot create jobs for its own people is not a superpower.

A very striking fact is that the net increase of aging US population will make all the difference in the near future. 17 % of the US population is over 55 years old and 23% is over 40 years. Many can’t afford to buy a basic health insurance. Hence, there are millions of Americans don’t have any kind of health insurance. A country that can’t even provide free basic healthcare to its own citizens can’t be a superpower.

With US school students increasingly shunning mathematics and the science subjects, the United State’s image of ‘global technology leader’ will soon become history. 45% of the student population in the so-called ‘Top US Universities’ are not from the US but from rest of the world. Leading technology companies such as Xerox, Microsoft, Apple, IBM, GE, Google are moving their key R&D projects out of US is very much evident than ever before due to lack of new skills and new thinking. A country, which depends on ‘foreign brains’ to remain, as a ‘technology leader’ can’t be a superpower.

The United States of America was founded on the principles of equality and freedom of ex-pression for all race and religion on this earth. Those core principles are still not been implemented from the ‘heart’ but by the lips and the laws. The reality is whites don’t like blacks, blacks don’t like whites, whites don’t like hispanics, hispanics don’t like whites (Don’t mistake me as a racist. I am not). Racial integration is a ‘hot topic’ and only widely spoken during the ‘elections’ by the US politicians to gain votes. If I don’t mistake my heart and mind, there must be a definite and constructive increase of political and religious fundamentalism within the US just waiting to explode. The statement that ‘US is a melting Pot’ is indeed a pot full of lies. A country with racial unequality can’t be a superpower. Will I ever be able to see an African American or Hispanic as the ‘President of the United States of America’? I only wish.

How many Americans do fully understand that their vote for electing the US president technically does not have any influence or value? How many Americans do really know that the Electoral College is mostly anti-democratic and promotes corruption for selecting the US president? How many Americans know that they are 45% most likely to be policed directly or indirectly by their own elected government? The US should be ashamed and must stop calling as a ‘true democratic’ country, which loves freedom and gives equal rights to all. It is usually and always the other way around. Almost all United States governments are functioning just like a ‘Big Business’ entity under the ‘ TexMex Cowboy Governance’, where you are with them or against them.

What did ‘Hurricane Katrina’s message’ to all Americans and the rest of the world? There is also a Somalia or Sudan is within the great United States of America. The US government took five days to respond to the catastrophe after all was out of control. A government, which was too lazy to protect it’s own citizens and lied to them that they were safe can’t be a superpower. Make a visit to New Orleans. You will see it all.

The US mainline media is very cleverly and systematically misinforms the American public on all key political and social issues. The American public believes it as real!!! The corrupt media regime has well established links with all political ‘big heads’ of US politics. It is actually helping to stage a planned ‘propaganda’ directly focussed to ‘brainwash’ the American public with series of myths and illusion of lies as great as any ruthless ‘dictatorship’ could possibly do. The US mainline media never criticises the government or it’s policies or president’s actions and accountability. By taking democracy and peace for granted, president Bush had thoroughly done a great deal of damage to the United States than all the other previous US presidents put together. Job well done!!!

The Americans have become complacent and very less assertive to know about what’s happening within the United States and around the world. Crucial thoughts and real political and social debates at the national and state level have become totally uncommon these days. The successive United States governments are exploiting this lack of political and social consciousness to make sure that their lies are not illusions. I am very disappointed to see that the majority of Americans are not doing anything about what is happening around them now. But, it is time to wake up now before it becomes too late to deal with.

By saying "You are either with us or against us" and by launching a war of aggression on the basis of lies and fabricated "intelligence," the US government violated the United Nations and international laws. Thus, directly or indirectly insulted the whole international community including the US’s traditional European allies. By going to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, many military companies owned by the US politicians must have made billions of dollars in profit. Is it necessary to lose 3,000 Americans lives for the sake of lies? Thus, a land of liars will never be the land of superpower.

Extensive civilian casualties and infrastructure destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with the torture of innocent civilian detainees, human rights violation in secret and closed concentration camps and an ever-changing excuse for the so called ‘war on terror’, have destroyed all the moral creditabilities that provided the very diplomatic foundation for America's superpower status in the past. What the US politicians failed to understand a very simple thing is that bullets, bombs and lies will never be able to create peace and democracy. A country that promises more war in the future will no longer be respected and which will be isolating itself from the rest of the world. An isolated country can’t be and never be a superpower.

The mistake of going into war and destroying Iraq and Afghanistan will surely prove very costly for the United States for many more years in totally needless necessary to stay there and sort out the ‘big mess’, which will only result in less friendly countries, more enemies to face, more terror plots to thwart, more bin ladens to look after. The ‘unconditional support’ and partnering in all injustices and crimes committed by the Israel, not to mention the recent bombing of civilians and children in Lebanon is generating more frustration, anger and hatred against the United States. The ‘Vision Israel’ policy has no long-term benefit to the US in any sense but with endless subsidy to Israel, an indefinite financial spending, and providing fuel for the generation of ‘Anti-Americanism’ across the globe.

A country that fears small, distant countries such as North Korea and Iran to such an extent that it want to use military force and nuclear missiles in place of diplomatic means is truly not a superpower.

The United States is the one and only country in the world to have used nuclear weapons (Let me called it as ‘weapon of mass destruction’!!). It had killed thousands of innocent sleeping Japanese civilians during middle of the night. If six decades after nuking Japan, the US again warns to use very advanced nuclear weapons on Iran and possibly triggering the ‘first all out nuclear world war’ on this planet. If it happens, it will only surely establish and reaffirm the Unites States of America as a ‘criminal state’ with the control of insane Americans. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if I wake up one fine morning to know that the Washington DC has been nuked. Because, What you give is what you get. It is a universal karma.

The United States politicians still think that the US is the one and only superpower of the current and future world. If that is the case, why they couldn’t able to stop 9/11 happening? Or did they knowingly let the 9/11 to happen with the purpose to cover up their pot full of lies and divert Americans attention elsewhere? Or why can’t they stop the Iraqi resistance and bring back the democracy? Or did the US invade Iraq in a hurry to grab its treasury and gold to pay off the mounting debts? Or why the United State’s superior military power is not enough to prevail in fourth generation warfare? Or why the US let Afghanistan to be the breeding ground of terrorism? The answers lie somewhere between totally corrupt US political think tank and generations of confused American foreign policies.

If the United State’s foreign policy and foreign relations doesn’t change totally and unconditionally, any sympathy that might still exist in rest of the world for the US would soon disappear in the years to come, and the world would eventually forced to unite against the US on all fronts. A country against which the world is united will not be a superpower.

The land of the great American dream, land of opportunities, land of creations, land of all enterprises, land of wealth, land of future-minded people, land of melting pot, land of racial equality, America is revered by many. These catchy statements are actually nothing but organised ‘marketing campaign’ to create illusions to cover up the lies and fool the Americans. The reality is that America is no longer the same after 9/11, not even for the Americans, America is still the same after 9/11 tragedy. It’s sad.

The present US leads the world in divorce, crime and immorality. A country, which is actually waiting for total economical, social and lifestyle disaster. The United States is too engrossed in power obsession to ever have the will to revive and remain as a real democratic country for its own citizens and for the sake of a peaceful world. It won’t be long before the US will have to face grim reality of the future.

These are just some of the reasons why the United States is not and will never be a real superpower. We can surely expect a sharp decline in the influence and importance of the United States in world politics and economy. A more balanced, multi-polar world is emerging now. More and more people are getting better education, access to information and technology, working hard and looking forward to live peacefully on this earth. Unfortunately, the country that seems least ready to understand this reality is the United States of America.

If one were to go by the theory of Ibne-Khuldun, a 12th Century Arabic scholar from Morocco whose writings was compiled in the book “Muqqadima”, theorizes that all civilizations in this world usually will have a life span of approx 300 years before totally fading out. Some civilizations after they fade away become dead civilization like Aztec, Inca and Mayan civilizations. Others civilizations like Persian, Indian, Chinese, Egyptian etc are living civilizations capable of rising again and again.

Eisenhower once said that the military-industrial complex of the America will not be the friendly face of America, but it is indisputably the face of today’s America. So, How many Americans are ready to bring back the true American dream? How many Americans have the guts to do ‘revolution’ to over throw the corrupt US government? Are they waiting for someone to tell them to do it? Rise and unite to stand. Don’t fall to the lies. The history will never forgive so do the future American generations.

NOTE: Let me make it clear that I am not an 'Anti-American' or whatever you can call me... Sometimes, very harsh critical comments are necessary to find real time solutions. I hope that you can agree on this. I did try to avoid comparing the US with other problems of the world. Because, by doing so, it is very easy to find many positive things about the US in general. It will only lead to ignore the actual present and future problems (and crisis!!) and the very necessary to find firm and decisive solutions.

I don’t have an intention to create a debate of why the US is not a superpower. The negatives that I have mentioned in the article will not only have significant impact on the US and the rest of the world in the near future but a considerable impact on the future human race as well. I am very much concerned and worried about what will happen to the world if and when the USA’s stronghold on the world diminishes in the next 50 years ..100 years..

I believe that this world is fast becoming a giant global village. Inter-dependence of countries is far more significant and very crucial than 50 years ago. I believe that the US should stop interfering in other country’s affairs. Let the world countries to find solutions to all their political and social problems before any help can given by the international community. Because, this will allow us to find long lasting solutions and options to sort out current global problems. If the outdated US policies don’t change, the US will be singled out from the world in the future.

I do think that the majority of Americans are innocent, peace loving people like all others. The Americans deserve to be taken care primarily by their federal government at all times as it is said in the US constitution.

I am 31 years old, very proudly from India. Currently, live in one of the small villages of United Kingdom. I did live in the United States for more than four years. What I knew about America before I stepped in for the first time wasn't the America I have experienced in all those years. Hence, I no longer live in the US. However, I do have good friends in the United States. The United States had given many inventions and good things to the world civilization. I really don’t want to see the same country to go down in the history as an arrogant and deprived nation.

May God bless all of us in this ‘flat world’ with love and peace. Email the article to your family members and friends. Share your views.
